Course Description

Gamification is the application of game psychology and game mechanics into real life or non-game settings which has been increasingly used to address the lack of engagement in various businesses today with proven results.

In this age of connectivity and social media, orthodox means of recruiting new talent are increasingly defunct and L&D managers are struggling to engage existing talent with boring e-learning solutions. This disengagement also extends to other HR areas such as compliance training, safety and health, innovation management, and culture building.

Keith Ng, co-founder of Gametize, and Prapim Chutaprutikorn, head of Gametize’s Academy Program, will be illustrating how Gametize and other organizations have used gamification to solve different HR issues and maintain engagement with the best and brightest talents of today. Gametize is a gamification platform serving both MNCs and SMEs, with more than 300,000 users and 15 million completed challenges since 2012.

This 1-day Masterclass program will equip participants with knowledge on essential theories and use cases of gamification implemented by Gametize and other organizations. There will also be breakout activities and a demonstration of the Gametize Platform, so that participants can build and prototype their gamification strategy.

Lastly, with this Masterclass, participants will be able to earn the inaugural Gametize Certification (Level 1).

Course Outline

Session 1: Introduction to Gamification

Participants to be introduced to the concept of gamification and the usage of game elements across different technologies and channels.

Session 2: HR Gamification Use Cases

Participants will learn of various use cases of gamification to meet different types of objectives, both on the Gametize platform and that of other solution providers. Each use case will provide learning points for successes and areas of improvement.

Session 3: Motivation and Gamification Frameworks

Participants to learn about how gamification drives motivation. Participants will also be introduced to a several motivation frameworks and gamification frameworks, including Gametize’s design framework, which they can use to structure their gamified experiences.

Session 4: Design your Gamification Experience

Participants will design their own gamified experience based on the Gametize design framework with guidance from facilitators. This session will conclude with a showcase and discussion of several participants’ frameworks to their group of peers. There will also be a demonstration of the Gametize Platform to participants. By the end of this session, participants should be able to complete a basic gamification strategy, which includes game elements such as interactions, campaign, and rewards.

Session 5: Presentation and Feedback

Participants will be able to present their gamification strategy to their group of peers, and receive feedback of their ideas and proposal from peers and facilitators. During this time, participants are welcome to explore the Gametize Platform and to participate in a discussion and Q&A session with the facilitators.


This executive masterclass will consist of a variety of proven adult learning techniques to ensure maximum understanding, comprehension and retention of the information presented.

This interactive and hands-on session will comprise of various discussions, presentations, and mini- exercises so as to maximize participants’ engagement. The participants will have several opportunities throughout the session to brainstorm and receive feedback for their gamified solutions, using the knowledge they have gained of motivational frameworks and game elements during the masterclass.

During this period, they will receive guidance and support from the facilitators to ensure they are able to create an experience that is engaging and fun, while fulfilling their desired outcomes.

Keith Ng (@keizng) co-founded Gametize, a digital gamification platform to motivate behaviors through challenges and rewards such as in recruitment, learning & development, marketing and community advocacy. Gametize won funding in a reality TV show (Angels’ gate), the People’s Vote in IBM’s Asean Smartcamp 2013, and most recently SBR’s 2015 20 hottest startups in Singapore. Today, the platform is powering fun for 300,000 users today with more than 10 million challenge completions.

Keith was nominated as one of the most influential people in gamification globally by Gamification Summit (2014), as well as the top 100 gamification innovator/consultant by Sparkah. He conceptualized Gametize’s gamification design framework, and speaks on gamification globally, including Gamification Summit in San Francisco, HR Congress in Manila, and Loyalty Summit, in Mumbai. His interests are in using game thinking and positive psychology to solve engagement problems, and new OBHR frameworks that increases “happiness” for the organizations.

Prior to co-founding Gametize, Keith coded/sold a MLM software at 18, completed his BBM (Finance) and BSc (Information System) on a scholarship by DFS in Singapore Management University, ending his final semester on exchange in Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium studying arts and the Flemish language. His “Richard Bartle’s Player Type” would be Explorer and Achiever; he lives for his Tuesday evening futsal games, and plays Counter-Strike and the Rubik’s cube sometimes (which he struggles immensely with). He actively mentors and advises entrepreneurial individuals and startups pro-bono and enjoys helping people to avoid mistakes he has made.

Prapim Chutaprutikorn

Prapim Chutaprutikorn is Gametize’s resident creatives person and instructional designer, and has extensive experience as a mentor and an instructor for both children and adults. She

studied Graphic Design at the University of the Arts London before returning to Singapore to embark on her teaching and design career. Her first experience as an instructor was teaching art to children, and she has since transitioned to designing learning materials and experiences for corporate training programs. Her “Player Type” would be Explorer, as she values lifelong learning and believes in personal growth; currently, she is learning digital marketing as a way to further enhance her skills.
